The name 1910 Publishing Co. is deeply rooted in history, inspired by Theodore Roosevelt’s famous 1910 speech, Citizenship in a Republic, often referred to as the “Man in the Arena” speech. Delivered in Paris at a time when the United States was emerging as a global power, Roosevelt’s words spoke to a nation grappling with industrialization, social change, and an expanding role on the world stage. His message honored those who step forward; those willing to bear responsibility, endure criticism, and risk failure in pursuit of something meaningful. It was, and remains, a tribute to perseverance, courage, and lived experience.

Founded in 2017 by E. G. Weiss, Jr., 1910 Publishing Co. was created as a home for voices that matter; voices shaped not by theory, but by time spent in the arena. The company exists to provide a platform for professionals who have something valuable to say, something earned through experience, yet who are often silenced or sidelined by public opinion, institutional hesitation, or outdated policies. At its core, 1910 Publishing is about preserving hard-won knowledge and presenting it in a practical, no-nonsense manner for those who will follow.

A central mission of 1910 Publishing Co. is to encourage responders of all kinds (and present) to reach out and tell their stories. Firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency managers, medics, military personnel, investigators, and frontline professionals carry lessons that should not be lost to time. We were established to assist these men and women in creating their own written legacy, whether that takes the form of professional insight, historical documentation, personal reflection, or hard truths learned the difficult way. Your experience matters, and your story deserves to be preserved with integrity.

1910 Publishing Co. maintains a deliberately non-political stance. Our focus is not ideology, but substance. We are committed to protecting the integrity of our authors and the authenticity of their work, ensuring that complex and often critical subject matter is addressed clearly, responsibly, and without unnecessary noise or agenda.

While 1910 Publishing Co. primarily serves as an in-house publisher working closely with a select group of consultants and subject-matter experts, we do welcome submissions from qualified authors aligned with our mission. If you have a manuscript, or even the beginnings of one; you believe should be shared, we invite you to visit our Contact Us page to begin the conversation. Many legacies start with a simple reach-out.

Ultimately, our goal is to foster a community of readers and writers who share common responsibilities tied to homeland security, emergency management, mitigation, response, and resilience. We believe that knowledge passed forward—honestly and thoughtfully—is one of the most powerful tools we have to prepare the next generation of those willing to step into the arena.
